INSTAGRAM VS FACEBOOK FOR BUSINESS.
One question I get is ‘what social media platform should I use to promote my business?’
There are so many social media platforms to get your business out on, but which one is the best? Over coming weeks I am going to put up serval posts comparing each social media platform. This week it’s Instagram VS Facebook.
These platforms are two of the biggest social media platforms out there.
So the first thing to consider about these platforms is there audience/the people already using these platforms so according to sproutsocial, Instagram is most popular with 13-17 year olds, although every age group uses it and Facebook is most popular with 18-29 year olds closely followed by 30-49 year olds.
So this tells us, if we are targeting 25+ Facebook is great, because our target audience use it most. However if we are targeting the younger generation Instagram comes out on top.
Don’t get me wrong, Instagram isn’t only for one age group and Facebook isn’t only for another age group.
All age groups use every social media platform but it’s about seeing if your target audience are already present on that social media platform and figuring out what works best.
Now age isn’t the only thing to bare in mind, in fact it isn’t even that important because as I already said pretty much every age group uses every social media platform, the main thing is what your business does and what you are going to be posting, so Instagram is a photo and video sharing platform whereas Facebook is a platform where you can update your status, post pictures, interact with family and friends, etc.
There are so many things to take into account such as target audience, niche, USP, etc. Once you have figured all of this out, you will be able to make a decision which platforms to use.
Although it’s always handy using every social media platform to get your business out there, so it’s seen by more people!
I personally prefer Instagram over Facebook, however I may one day five Facebook a try for my business….. who knows.
